I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English and aspire to acquire a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science in the future. I would like to learn how to become a librarian, particularly one who will serve the local community.

I am happy to have had the opportunity to apply for the Wallin Education Partners Scholarship in high school. I had my doubts. I did not think I would end up being selected as a recipient, but I was thrilled when I discovered I had received the scholarship. The semester reports I have to send every year truly encourage me to critically analyze myself. Oftentimes I neglect to self-reflect, but self-reflections are learning opportunities. I am not only learning about the subjects I may or may not have interest in when in college—I am also learning about my own personal growth. What are my strengths? What are my areas of improvement? I do not pick at what I believe to be my flaws or weaknesses. Instead, I concentrate on my areas of strength and dedicate time to my areas of improvement. One of the most important aspects of life is the ability and opportunity to learn on a daily basis.

Without the General Mills Scholarship, I would not be where I am today. I have the wonderful opportunity of working as Wallin Education Partners’ Communications Intern this summer and am excited to embark on a journey with everyone. As a scholar, I know that I can take what I learn and apply it to my present and future endeavors. The General Mills Scholarship is a precious gift to me—I am honored to be a General Mills scholar and cannot express my gratitude enough.
